Graduated with First Class Honours from the University of Moratuwa
I’m excited to share that I have graduated with First Class Honours in B.Sc. Engineering (Hons.) in Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, with a CGPA of 3.78/4.00.
This marks the completion of an incredibly rewarding chapter of my academic journey, spanning four years of learning, experimentation, research, projects, and countless challenges that have shaped me both personally and professionally.
What I Accomplished
Throughout my undergraduate journey, I had the opportunity to explore a wide range of areas across engineering, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
Academic & Technical Journey
- Graduated with First Class Honours and a CGPA of 3.78/4.00
- Developed a strong foundation in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, and Signal Processing
- Worked on projects spanning Generative AI, Computer Vision, Embedded Systems, Robotics, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation
- Completed my final-year research project on Estimation of ECM Signatures in Fiber Probe Images, working with multi-magnification microscopy data and machine learning techniques
- Gained industry research experience through my ML and R&D Engineering Internship at BRAINGAZE, working on ocular biomarkers and machine learning for neurodevelopmental diagnosis
Leadership & Beyond Academics
My time at the University of Moratuwa was not limited to academics. I was fortunate to take part in engineering competitions, research projects, robotics initiatives, and student leadership.
During my undergraduate journey, I served as the Vice President of the Sri Lankan Robotics Challenge (SLRC) Branch of the Electronic Club, where I was involved in coordinating robotics outreach, school workshops, and competition-related activities.
Some memorable milestones include:
- Vice President – SLRC Branch, Electronic Club, University of Moratuwa
- First Runner-up – Sri Lanka Circuits Challenge 2024
- First Runner-up – AURORA 2024 AI Ideathon
- Top 30 Selected Entry – IEEE IES Generative AI Challenge 2024
- Finalist – IEEE ComSoc ComFix 2024
A Chapter Comes to an End
Graduating with First Class Honours is a milestone I am incredibly grateful for, but more than the classification itself, I value the journey that led to it.
From building my first embedded systems projects to exploring deep learning and generative AI, conducting research, competing in engineering challenges, and working on real-world ML applications, every experience has contributed to the person and engineer I am today.
I am deeply grateful to my lecturers, supervisors, colleagues, friends, and family who supported me throughout this journey.
Every ending is the beginning of something new.
As I close this chapter at the University of Moratuwa, I look forward to continuing my journey in AI research, machine learning, and human-centered intelligent systems.
Thank you, University of Moratuwa, for an unforgettable journey. 🎓
